Women in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine (PHRM) in New Zealand wants to spread our message of supporting women in PHRM careers in NZ. Whether this is current employment or interest in these careers.
We believe that small actions can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly to contribute to the advancement of Women in PHRM.
MISSION STATEMENT
Advocacy, promoting, supporting and inspiring diverse and inclusive PHRM workforces and workplaces, enabling positive impacts on excellence in quality PHRM clinical care.
Who We Are
Background
As women currently working in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine roles in New Zealand, we know that sometimes all it takes to create change is a little support.
Research suggests that women benefit from having networks of other women in similar fields to them, notably improving chances of leadership roles in their chosen careers. Since our founding in 2018, we have been determined to make an impact as a network of female PHRM clinicians and flight crews from around New Zealand
Resilience of organisations requires diversity, inclusion, sustainability and a commitment to wellness. As a group, we understand the value and benefit of diversity for our patients and also within organisations. PHRM services should represent the community and patients they serve.
PHRM is moving to a more diverse group who bring many positive skills from their outside passions to the job. Through these endeavours we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.
Our Vision
Women in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine New Zealand emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the women in PHRM community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Our vision is to support the following:
Actively promote and encourage gender diversity in PHRM in NZ
Promote and achieve improved female leadership representation in PHRM in NZ
Sponsor women leaders in PHRM in NZ
Promote and help create family-friendly working environments.
Inspiration and role-modelling for trainee PHRM health-care professionals and young women deciding on career pathways
Development of a women’s PHRM mentorship network for all clinicians across NZ
GOALS
Meaningful Work.
Education
With this initiative, our goal is to promote continuing professional education (CPE), specifically empowering Women in PHRM to present their work at educational meetings. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfil their potential. We hope to provide grants to support CPE for Women in PHRM (NZ) in the future.
Advocacy
With our mission statements always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with this challenge. Advocacy is something that we take very seriously, and our team is working each and every day to make positive statements about the impact of gender diversity in PHRM.
Support
At Women in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine New Zealand, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing gender diversity. Support is by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
